It's finally done! Hell yeah!

This have been one of the more time consuming pieces I've done in a quite long time. The first sketch was made back in April, and it's been quite a travel. Altogether, I must have spent about 7-10 hours on the sketch alone.

I tried to keep track of the hours I've spent painting this in photoshop, but simply can't understand how to keep track of the time. For one thing, it's so easy to get caught up in it and lose all sense of time. Secondly, I do not always work very focused. I paint for a while, then I surf around a bit or do something else, and then I paint again. My guess is that it has taken me at least 10-12 hours, maybe more.

As most of you probably know by now, the painting is of the amazingly hot and talented Amanda Palmer. If you haven't heard her works, I really do suggest you go check her out!

The series has been named "Battle" because I was listening to Patrick Wolf's latest album, The Bachelor, while painting the first one of the series. One of the songs on the album is called Battle, and it seemed to fit quite perfectly.

The piece of lyrics on the banner is that as well from a song by Patrick Wolf, "Hard Times", after a suggestion made by ~JanuaryVictim. I added the word "fucking" for some extra AfP-ness (that's Amanda fucking Palmer to you, buck-o).

It might seem weird to paint one artist, and then name and illustrate it with the work of another, but that's how my brain works. I constantly mix my influences and fandoms. Take it or leave it.

What might look like wings after a quite glance are after further inspection two unicorns. Because unicorns are great and all that. I thought about submitting it to "political art", but I wasn't quite sure.
